Lead Engineer, Protection and Controls

Location: Westwood, Massachusetts, United States; hybrid schedule with work from home up to two days per week. Travel to substations, operating districts, and other company locations may be required.

Annual salary: $145,670–$161,860, plus potential incentive.

What you will do

• Supervise, assign, prioritize, and direct the work of Protection & Controls Engineering personnel.
• Manage compliance activities under NERC, NPCC, and ISO-NE requirements.
• Develop, review, implement, and update protection and controls standards, procedures, design documentation, and relay setting files.
• Lead support for protection system operations, failures, emergency situations, and unplanned maintenance.
• Supervise disturbance root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
• Provide engineering guidance to System Planning, Interconnections, Distributed Generation, Asset Management, and operating areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering; emphasis in Power Systems is desired.
• At least eight years of technical, operational, or engineering experience in the electric utility industry.
• Strong background in protection engineering.
• Ability to work primarily in an office environment and travel to substations and operating districts.
