Senior Technical Specialist (Claims)

Location: Hartford, Connecticut, United States

Annual base salary: $94,400–$155,800, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage complex, high-exposure toxic tort, latent injury, sexual misconduct, environmental, and excess claims.
• Research policies and analyze coverage across legacy companies and multiple jurisdictions.
• Investigate liability, evaluate damages, and develop claim resolution recommendations.
• Lead litigation strategy, including counsel selection, expert engagement, settlement negotiations, mediations, and trials.
• Manage assigned accounts, financial exposure estimates, budgets, claim reserves, and organized claim files.
• Provide coaching, mentoring, training, interviewing support, and project leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; a high school diploma or GED is required.
• At least 3 years of experience in environmental claims and coverage determination, severe and complex liability claims, litigation, or comparable legal experience.
• Alternatively, 3 years of bodily injury or property damage claim handling or comparable litigation/legal experience plus 1 year of SRG experience.
• Advanced knowledge of legal issues, applicable case law, regulatory requirements, and claim environments.
• Insurance license(s) may be required and generally must be obtained within three months of starting; ongoing education credits may also be required.
• Strong analytical thinking, communication, judgment, decision-making, planning, relationship management, teamwork, and customer focus.
