TL;DR
Operations Manager II - Aircraft Modification (Aerospace): Leading complex aircraft manufacturing operations, production control, inventory control, engineering, and materials functions with an accent on process improvement, safety, regulatory compliance, and operational planning. Focus on optimizing manufacturing strategies and budgets, implementing ERP/MES-enabled improvements, and coordinating cross-functional teams across aerospace operations.

Location: Hagerstown, Maryland, United States. The role may be performed in an office or hybrid environment and includes occasional travel, site visits, facility inspections, and work on manufacturing floors.

Estimated starting salary: $113,428.57–$155,964.28 annually, plus performance-based annual incentive pay.

What you will do

  • Oversee complex manufacturing operations, production control, and inventory control activities.
  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies aligned with customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional process improvement initiatives to increase manufacturing efficiency.
  • Prepare, manage, and optimize operational budgets.
  • Establish and enforce operational policies, procedures, safety practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Recruit, supervise, direct, evaluate, and develop operations staff while fostering cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in aviation, operations, business, logistics, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • 9+ years of operations management experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership role; 13 years of related experience may substitute for a degree.
  • Extensive knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory management, production principles, materials management systems, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience interpreting technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and operational documentation.
  • Previous supervisory experience and the ability to maintain staff competence.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

  • Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma certification.
  • Advanced proficiency with ERP, MES, and data analysis tools.
  • Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, Theory of Constraints, Assembly, Integration, and Test practices.
  • Understanding of airworthiness, safety programs, and operational readiness.
  • Aerospace and defense, U.S. Department of Defense, or U.S. military experience.
