TL;DR
R&D Engineering Lab Technician (HVAC): Supporting prototype, pre-production, and agency testing for electrical enclosures, cooling, and high-density liquid cooling products with an accent on hands-on test fixture operation, instrumentation, and technical reporting. Focus on adapting test setups, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, collecting accurate measurements, and validating new product designs.

Location: Anoka, Minnesota, United States; on-site five days per week. Core hours are 9:30 am–3:30 pm, with a 40-hour workweek.

Compensation: $23.94–$44.42 per hour.

What you will do

  • Set up and complete prototype, pre-production, and agency testing across enclosure, cooling, and high-density liquid cooling product areas.
  • Partner with engineers to understand test intent, adapt test setups, and support evolving test plans and procedures.
  • Build, modify, and operate test fixtures, lab equipment, and prototypes for product development and validation.
  • Collect measurements and observations, then prepare clear technical reports and test documentation.
  • Diagnose test setup, instrumentation, equipment, and product behavior issues using mechanical, electrical, and controls knowledge.
  • Support equipment calibration, lab organization, continuous improvement, design, value engineering, and new product introduction activities.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering, R&D, or test laboratory; industrial or manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and/or electrical proficiency with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues independently.
  • Experience using lab instrumentation and measurement equipment such as calipers, micrometers, pressure or force gauges, and voltage meters.
  • Ability to document and communicate results using technical reports, data collection, and standard computer tools including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. and stand or sit for extended periods during testing.
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training in electrical, electronics, HVAC, refrigeration, or a related field is preferred. EPA 608 certification is required, or must be obtained within three months of starting; the company pays for the certification.
