Manufacturing Equipment Engineer (Additive Manufacturing)

Location: Torrance, California, United States. The role supports onsite production equipment, factory expansion, installation, commissioning, and production ramp activities. Candidates must be able to lawfully access information and technology subject to US export controls and be eligible to work in the United States.

Salary: $111,300–$176,720 per year, depending on level.

What you will do

• Transition newly developed Laser Powder Bed Fusion equipment from qualification into sustained, high-volume manufacturing.
• Own performance of assigned production equipment, improving reliability, throughput, yield, dimensional accuracy, repeatability, utilization, and OEE.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, controls, software, and process-related production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Support equipment qualification, validation, installation, factory and site acceptance testing, commissioning, and production readiness.
• Collaborate with design, controls, software, mechanical, electrical, systems, operations, maintenance, and quality teams.
• Develop engineering standards, preventive-maintenance procedures, calibration documentation, configuration controls, and fleet-wide standard work.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• 4–6 years of experience in manufacturing, equipment, reliability engineering, or advanced production environments.
• Experience launching or ramping production equipment or processes.
• Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and/or controls systems.
• Experience with structured root cause analysis methods such as RCCA, 5 Whys, or Fishbone.
• Ability to work cross-functionally and make analytical, data-driven decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with Laser Powder Bed Fusion or other metal additive manufacturing technologies.
• Background in aerospace, automotive, semiconductor, or high-volume precision manufacturing.
• Knowledge of AS9100, AMS, PPAP, APQP, or equivalent quality systems.
• Experience with OEE improvement, preventive maintenance, machine sensor data, PLCs, industrial automation, or capital equipment commissioning.
