TL;DR
Engineer, Product Development - Mechanical (Sustaining Engineering/Manufacturing): Supporting the performance, reliability, and manufacturability of existing safety and industrial products with an accent on product modifications, qualification updates, process optimization, and cost reduction. Focus on leading root-cause investigations, executing validation testing, analyzing performance data, and implementing material, process, or design changes.

Location: Monroe, NC, USA; onsite. Travel may include up to 20% domestic travel. Relocation may be authorized. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employment visa sponsorship.

Salary: $124,127–$151,710 per year, including base pay and variable incentive pay where applicable.

What you will do

  • Support product modifications, maintenance, and updates that preserve product quality and performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root-cause investigations for product and process issues, using data-driven corrective actions.
  • Provide technical support to manufacturing, quality, supply chain, and customers by analyzing performance data and recommending engineering solutions.
  • Execute validation testing, qualification updates, and sustaining-engineering documentation.
  • Evaluate material, process, and design changes to improve reliability and reduce cost.
  • Maintain technical documentation and support cross-functional teams, technical workstreams, experimental records, and intellectual-property reviews.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • At least three years of mechanical engineering experience in a private, public, government, or military environment.
  • Experience with data-driven analysis for design decisions and problem-solving.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies in engineering or manufacturing environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting, communication, technical presentation, collaboration, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to use AI-assisted development and analysis tools for firmware design, validation efficiency, and system-level troubleshooting.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Four or more years of mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience with molding processes.
  • Self-directed approach and demonstrated leadership capabilities.
