Salary: $60–$70 per hour, with actual base pay depending on experience, expertise, location, certifications, business needs, and skills.

What you will do
- Serve as a technical expert for existing and new materials and extrusion processes at the Billerica production facility.
- Design and build validation processes for material specifications, critical-to-quality requirements, and full system performance.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, quality, cost reduction, safety, and production consistency.
- Oversee extrusion line maintenance requirements and support work-cell continuity.
- Manage material engineering changes, corrective and preventive actions, non-conformance root-cause analysis, and customer or field failure responses.
- Support production development from alpha and beta runs through pilot launch, scale-up, and sustaining production while mentoring junior engineers and technicians.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, industrial, plastics, or process engineering; a master’s degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of relevant experience in a continuous manufacturing environment.
- Understanding of mechanical drawings, GD&T, and detailed mechanical and electrical schematics.
- Experience with 3D modeling and SolidWorks; Fusion 360 and EPDM experience are relevant.
- Knowledge of Lean/Six Sigma, statistical process control, control plans, process automation, human factors, FMEA, and root-cause analysis.
- Experience with capital project management, electro-mechanical systems, extrusion equipment, industrial automation, and 3D printers.
Nice to have
- Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
- Lean/Six Sigma green or black belt certification.
- Experience with closed-loop control and inspection equipment, high-precision laser technology, and hard tooling fabrication.
