Postdoctoral Scientist (Systems Neuroscience)

What you will do

• Investigate how neurons process information and how neural circuits control complex motor behaviors in mice and songbirds.
• Study motor-circuit error correction, visuo-acoustic feedback during vocal behaviors, sleep-related memory and learning, long-range neuronal communication, stroke, and brain-machine interfaces.
• Apply multiphoton microscopy, Bessel-beam imaging, closed-loop patterned stimulation, electrophysiology, calcium imaging, and microstimulation.
• Develop and use quantitative behavioral paradigms, animal surgical approaches, and experimental tools.
• Analyze large multimodal datasets using programming and statistical approaches.
• Contribute to publications, manuscript reviews, practice talks, mentoring, and collaborative lab activities.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in neuroscience, bioengineering, or a related scientific field.
• Advanced experience coding and analyzing large multimodal datasets, including MATLAB or Python.
• Prior training in optics or engineering, animal husbandry and surgery, behavioral testing, electrophysiology, imaging, or histology.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, learn quickly, solve problems, and adapt to a fast-paced research environment.
• Strong research integrity and motivation, with willingness to mentor colleagues and support an inclusive research climate.
