Senior Controls Engineer - Motion & PLC Programming

Location: Moorestown, New Jersey, USA; onsite role

Base salary: $120,000–$140,000 per year

What you will do

• Develop and implement PLC and multi-axis motion control programs for advanced labeling systems.
• Create documentation supporting equipment assembly, testing, debugging, and long-term servicing.
• Collaborate with automation, electrical, and mechanical engineers, sales teams, and customers to define project scope and requirements.
• Evaluate and recommend hardware and software components for project needs.
• Troubleshoot and optimize complex automation systems for performance, reliability, and scalability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Controls, or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent education.
• 7+ years of controls engineering experience focused on motion control and high-speed automated machinery.
• Proven experience with multi-axis motion control programming and structured text.
• Hands-on experience with B&R Automation Studio and HMI programming is required.
• Knowledge of OPC-UA, Powerlink, and Ethernet/IP communication protocols.
• Employment eligibility in the United States is verified through E-Verify.

Nice to have

• Experience with Allen Bradley CompactLogix and ControlLogix PLCs.
• Experience with B&R mappView and Allen Bradley FactoryTalk SE/ME.
• SQL database, SCADA, or MES experience.
