Senior Controls Engineer (PLC Automation)

Location: Lewiston, Idaho, or Pullman, Washington, United States; onsite manufacturing role

Salary: $160,600–$230,000 per year

What you will do

• Mentor engineers and technicians and serve as the technical lead for assigned automation projects.
• Develop equipment concepts while balancing product specifications, process controls, layout complexity, cost, quality, and lead time.
• Design industrial electrical control panels and schematics compliant with NFPA 79, NEC, and UL 508A.
• Architect, write, and debug structured, documented, maintainable, and reusable PLC ladder logic.
• Integrate conveyors, robots, MES, machine vision, safety systems, and third-party equipment.
• Introduce automated equipment into production, manage cabinet builds, and train Maintenance and Production teams.

Requirements

• US citizenship is stated as a candidate condition.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
• 12+ years of relevant experience designing and implementing automation solutions in manufacturing.
• Advanced PLC programming experience, including Allen-Bradley or Mitsubishi systems, HMI/GUI layout, fieldbus networks, safety systems, vision systems, and robotics integration.
• Experience with industrial electrical prints and standards, state machines, parallel multi-station processing, pick-and-place automation, data acquisition, PID control, error handling, and recovery processes.
• Strong technical presentation and training skills.
