Research Associate (Microbiology)

Location: College Station, Texas, United States; onsite laboratory role

Texas A&M University’s Biology Department conducts research and teaching across a broad range of biological sciences.

What you will do

• Design, plan, conduct, and coordinate microbiology experiments and support research projects.
• Evaluate research techniques, maintain detailed records, perform data and statistical analyses, and summarize findings.
• Prepare research results for scientific and clientele-oriented publications, manuscripts, presentations, and funding proposals.
• Train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, laboratory staff, technical personnel, and field personnel in aseptic and other research techniques.
• Install, operate, and repair research equipment while supporting laboratory supply procurement.
• Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and efficient laboratory environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of related experience in microbiology research or a similar field.
• Proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of laboratory hazards and biohazards.
• Ability to lift solutions and small equipment.
• Strong attention to detail, laboratory note-taking, computer, software, data analysis, and scientific communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree or equivalent knowledge in microbial physiology and genetics.
• Experience with aseptic techniques, microbial agents, molecular cloning, and microbial research equipment.
• Experience training others in laboratory and aseptic techniques.
• Background in Acinetobacter baumannii physiology.
