Research Associate (Stem Cell and Lung Biology)

Location: Houston, Texas; full-time, onsite laboratory position

What you will do

• Conduct experiments involving human pluripotent stem cell-derived airway and alveolar epithelial differentiation and lung disease modeling.
• Maintain hPSC and differentiated lung epithelial cultures, including airway basal cell air–liquid interface differentiation and maintenance.
• Perform flow cytometry, immunostaining, microscopy, qPCR, and other molecular and cellular assays.
• Support animal xenograft experiments under approved protocols, including sample preparation, collection, and downstream analysis.
• Analyze and summarize experimental results, prepare figures and reports, and coordinate sequencing, histology, imaging, and core facility submissions.
• Train students and laboratory personnel while supporting standard operating procedures, quality control, equipment maintenance, and laboratory coordination.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, biomedical sciences, molecular biology, cell biology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least two years of related research experience in a biomedical laboratory.
• Experience with human pluripotent stem cell maintenance and directed differentiation, mammalian cell culture, and molecular or cellular biology techniques.
• Ability to follow protocols, troubleshoot experiments, maintain accurate laboratory records, and analyze and communicate research results.
• Knowledge of biosafety, sterile technique, data organization, inventory management, and animal research compliance requirements.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively and to train students and other laboratory personnel.

Nice to have

• Experience with airway or lung epithelial biology, air–liquid interface culture, immunofluorescence staining, microscopy, qPCR, single-cell sequencing sample preparation, or animal model support.
• Previous experience in stem cell and developmental biology, epithelial biology, or lung disease research.
