Energy Delivery System Operator Associate - Senior

Location: Shreveport, Louisiana, United States. Onsite dispatching-center work with a twelve-hour uninterrupted rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Timely reporting to the worksite may be required during emergency events; some travel and hazardous situations are possible.

Base salary: $72,551.00–$93,188.50 per year. A compensation range of $74,551.00–$128,688.00 is also listed.

What you will do

• Monitor and regulate transmission-system voltage levels and real and reactive power flows in coordination with the AEP System Control Center.
• Support real-time operation of transmission systems, neighboring utility coordination, and distribution equipment inside substations.
• Prepare switching orders and safety tagging steps for equipment maintenance, repair, construction, and removal from service.
• Direct or assist with emergency switching and restore equipment and customers to service safely and efficiently.
• Maintain operational logs, station entry and exit records, and event and transaction documentation.
• Operate or assist with SCADA and monitor metering, communications, and severe-weather information systems.

Requirements

• Two-year technical degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field, or a high school diploma plus two years of experience demonstrating the ability to operate a power system.
• Valid state driver license.
• Ability to work under pressure during critical system conditions, analyze information, manage simultaneous situations, and communicate instructions clearly and concisely.
• Ability to work a twelve-hour uninterrupted rotating schedule covering nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Recommended results on the HireVue Dispatcher Worker Virtual Job Tryout assessment are required.
• Completion of required company training and testing within established time frames is required for progression within the classification line.

Nice to have

• One to two years of experience in substation operation, protective relaying, or distribution dispatching.
