Field Technician - Senior (Electric Power Systems)

Location: Fully remote within the United States or local/in-office in Lakewood, Colorado. Frequent travel of 50–75% is required, with work performed in field and office settings.

Salary: $45–$70 per hour, based on the Denver, Colorado labor market.

What you will do

• Perform equipment and control-system troubleshooting, relay testing, start-up, and commissioning services.
• Program, wire, install, and test protective relaying, control, communications, SCADA, and PLC systems.
• Lead field teams, mentor less experienced staff, and review work for quality and accuracy.
• Provide onsite construction support, supervise field activities, attend construction meetings, and coordinate RFIs, schedules, design updates, and compliance checks.
• Prepare testing, troubleshooting, investigation, and construction progress reports.
• Assist with electric power system design, including schematics, wiring, SCADA, cable routing, grounding, equipment specifications, cost estimates, and schedules.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree is preferred.
• At least 3 years of substation testing experience.
• NETA II/III or NICET II certification.
• Experience leading highly technical projects, with strong organization, judgment, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word, plus strong written and oral English communication.
• Must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States.

Nice to have

• AutoCAD and power system software experience, including EasyPower, ETAP, or SKM.
• Experience with Omicron test equipment, SEL equipment, and RTAC.
• Experience configuring, testing, and commissioning IEC 61850, DNP3, MODBUS, or other SCADA protocols.
• Relay or SCADA panel wiring experience in a substation environment.
