TL;DR
Associate System Operator (Power Systems/SCADA): Operating generation, transmission, and distribution facilities in real time through SCADA, outage coordination, reliability analysis, and emergency restoration with an accent on system safety, switching procedures, and regulatory compliance. Focus on analyzing contingency conditions, isolating faults, maintaining voltage profiles, and coordinating restoration activities across ISO-NE and local control centers.

Location: Manchester, NH; travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire is required as necessary

Starting rate of pay: $63.02 per hour

What you will do

  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate the safe, reliable, and economic minute-to-minute operation of generation, transmission, and distribution facilities.
  • Monitor real-time system status and implement system changes through SCADA under normal and abnormal conditions.
  • Prepare switching, grounding, and tagging orders while enforcing personnel and equipment safety procedures.
  • Perform online and offline security analysis, load-flow studies, and contingency analysis to identify and address reliability risks.
  • Coordinate outages, emergency procedures, fault isolation, load restoration, and repairs with ISO-NE and neighboring control centers.
  • Maintain voltage profiles and report malfunctions affecting telecommunications, protective relaying, EMS, and SCADA systems.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, two years of formal military or technical training beyond high school, or equivalent experience.
  • Five years of related dispatching or electric operations experience, including distribution dispatching, generation station operations, electrical maintenance, or power system protection and control.
  • Knowledge of generation, transmission, and distribution system operations, protective relay schemes, and generating unit characteristics.
  • Ability to perform and analyze load-flow and contingency studies using online and offline programs.
  • Knowledge of NERC Reliability Standards, NPCC criteria, ISO-NE operating procedures, and control center procedures.
  • Ability to obtain NERC certification within the first year and successfully pass all required pre-employment assessments.
