Technician I, II, or III (Machining and Fabrication)

Location: Onsite at the Main Campus in College Station, Texas, United States. Employment requires authorization to work in the United States and completion of federal I-9 verification.

Texas A&M Engineering, through the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, conducts basic and applied engineering research, workforce development, and technology transition.

What you will do

• Support academic projects, teaching activities, and research operations in Zachry Labs.
• Operate and maintain machining and fabrication equipment, including CNC mills and lathes, water jets, wire EDM, and welding equipment.
• Teach and assist students with welding, manufacturing, fabrication, and academic or research projects.
• Construct, assemble, modify, troubleshoot, and repair equipment and machinery.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, reference materials, calibration records, SDS documentation, and common areas.
• Coordinate technical operations and collaborate with faculty, students, staff, and student workers.

Requirements

• Technician I: high school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience, plus two years of related experience.
• Technician II: high school diploma or equivalent combination of training and experience, plus three years of related experience.
• Technician III: bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with machining and fabrication, CAD/CAM, manufacturing prints, precision measurement tools, and machine-cutting tools.
• Experience applying laboratory and shop safety requirements, maintaining equipment, and troubleshooting machinery.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and provide acceptable documents for I-9 verification.

Nice to have

• Experience with SolidWorks, Mastercam, HAAS and Okuma CNC controls.
• Experience programming and setting up CNC mills and lathes, including fourth- and fifth-axis machines.
• Experience sourcing shop supplies, supporting purchasing, and consulting with students and faculty on manufacturing projects.
