Account Executive Officer, Senior Underwriter, Oil & Gas

Location: Houston, Texas, United States. The role involves regular in-person meetings with agents and brokers and travel to those meetings.

Annual base salary: $109,300–$180,200, plus eligibility for performance-based cash incentive awards.

What you will do

• Manage the profitability, growth, and retention of an assigned book of oil and gas business.
• Underwrite and negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
• Build internal and external relationships with business partners, agents, and brokers.
• Market and sell insurance products, identify new business, and pursue cross-selling opportunities.
• Develop and execute agency and regional sales plans with the Managing Director.
• Support the training and mentoring of less experienced Account Executives when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree.
• At least four years of relevant experience in underwriting, claims, operations, risk assessment, actuarial work, sales, product, or finance.
• Six to eight years of relevant underwriting experience, preferably involving oil and gas or construction risk.
• Deep knowledge of oil and gas or construction risk products, regulatory requirements, and the local insurance market.
• Strong critical thinking, communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
• CPCU designation.
