Technical Designer, Sweaters

Location: New York, NY, United States

Compensation: $100,000–$125,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Create initial development specifications and technical packages for sweater prototypes.
• Maintain tech packs, garment specifications, fit comments, and revisions from prototype through bulk production.
• Evaluate prototype and production samples for design intent, fit, construction, and quality, recommending adjustments.
• Prepare fit sessions by tracking samples, measuring garments, and documenting revisions.
• Track seasonal work-in-progress samples, technical comments, and development milestones.
• Communicate with suppliers and factories and collaborate with Design, Product Development, Merchandising, and Production teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of Technical Design experience, including patternmaking, garment construction, and fit evaluation, with a focus on sweaters and knitwear.
• Strong understanding of knit structures, yarns, gauges, knitting construction, garment finishing, and wash processes.
• Knowledge of grading, bulk production standards, and specification management.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator; PLM experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, accuracy, and attention to detail.
• Proficient English required for communication with internal teams and international suppliers.
