Estimator (Civil Construction)

Location: Lorton, Virginia, based at the Lorton headquarters; current authorization to work in the United States is required.

Salary: $70,000–$125,000 base salary per year.

What you will do

• Analyze plans, specifications, contract terms, project scope, and risk.
• Define trade scopes, create bid packages, solicit subcontractor and vendor bids, and analyze pricing.
• Perform plan take-offs and enter quantities and bid information into HeavyBid.
• Develop self-perform production rates, crew analyses, project budgets, schedules, and resource plans.
• Participate in bid reviews, design-build meetings, pre-construction and post-construction meetings, and develop design alternatives and win strategies.
• Provide estimating and change-order support after project procurement while maintaining relationships with project partners.

Requirements

• 5+ years of relevant estimating or civil construction experience.
• Experience with bid-build and design-build projects in heavy highway and transportation construction at the local, state, or federal level.
• Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract terms and conditions.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Bluebeam, and Google tools.
• Strong organizational, time-management, problem-solving, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug screening and be currently authorized to work full-time in the US.

Nice to have

• Undergraduate degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• Knowledge of grading, underground utilities, maintenance of traffic, bridge construction, and retaining wall construction.
• Experience with SmartBid, HeavyBid, AGTEK, and AutoCAD.
