Terminal Operator (Petroleum)

Location: Onsite in Elk Grove Village, Illinois, United States. Rotating shifts of up to 15 hours, with 24/7 on-call availability and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

Pay: USD $38.95–$41.90 per year, with job level and pay determined by experience and the collective bargaining agreement.

What you will do

• Handle petroleum and liquid products safely and maintain product integrity.
• Operate, inspect, monitor, and maintain bulk liquid storage, pipeline, loading rack, metering, and terminal automation equipment.
• Manage tank inventories, perform manual and automatic readings, sampling, calibration, and quality assurance activities.
• Direct inbound pipeline receipts to appropriate tanks and coordinate truck, railcar, and marine tanker product receipts.
• Complete work permits, lockout/tagout procedures, safety paperwork, inventory records, and preventive maintenance activities.
• Communicate with managers, contractors, drivers, visitors, customers, and project managers while monitoring adherence to safety requirements.

Requirements

• Two years of pipeline or oil/petroleum industry experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical education or relevant post-high-school experience is valued.
• Valid driver's license and ability to remain DOT qualified (OQ).
• Fluent spoken and written English is required.
• Mechanical aptitude; ability to read electrical and mechanical diagrams, work with valves and pressure control devices, and perform basic mathematics.
• Ability to climb tanks and ladders up to 60 feet and lift, carry, push, pull, or drag equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.

Nice to have

• Two to four years of college education.
• Experience with terminal inventory, work order, maintenance, truck loading rack, and other operations systems.
