What you will do

• Assist scientists and technicians with laboratory research procedures and operate scientific instruments and equipment.
• Perform routine experimental techniques, including electrophoresis, centrifugation, and chromatography.
• Collect, record, organize, verify, and analyze research data; prepare calculations, charts, graphs, and reports.
• Configure laboratory apparatus, read instrument data, tabulate results, and maintain accurate laboratory records.
• Order chemicals, reagents, and laboratory supplies when needed.
• Participate in laboratory meetings and planning sessions; maintain experimental insects, plants, animals, or cultures as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Some related laboratory experience is preferred.
• Understanding of scientific principles and laboratory practices.
• Ability to prepare routine reports, maintain accurate records, and learn complex tasks with general instruction.
• Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods, manipulate objects, move around the workspace, and move materials weighing several pounds.
• Work may involve exposure to vapors, low-dose radiation, toxic chemicals, acids, and carcinogenic substances.
