Research Technician (Biomedical Research)

Location: University of Washington, Washington Area, United States; onsite laboratory work

Salary: $19.24–$24.09 per hour for Research Technician I.

What you will do

• Assist scientists and technicians with laboratory research procedures and operate scientific instruments and equipment.
• Perform routine techniques such as electrophoresis, centrifugation, and chromatography.
• Collect, organize, verify, and record experimental data and instrument results.
• Prepare calculations, charts, graphs, reports, and test documentation using software applications.
• Maintain laboratory records, supplies, equipment, and research materials, which may include insects, plants, animals, bacterial cultures, or tissue cultures.
• Participate in laboratory meetings and remain current with relevant scientific literature.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Ability to draft routine reports and maintain accurate records.
• Ability to learn complex tasks with general instruction and apply experience to new laboratory techniques.
• Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods, manipulate objects, move around the workspace, and move materials weighing several pounds.
• Ability to work in an environment with possible exposure to malodorous vapors, low-dose radiation, toxic chemicals, acids, and carcinogenic substances.
