Research Technician - Rubin Lab (Drosophila)

Location: Janelia Research Campus, 19700 Helix Drive, Ashburn, Virginia 20147, United States

Hiring pay range: $18.31–$22.88 per hour for Research Technician I, or $45,440–$56,800 salary for Research Technician II.

What you will do

• Perform plasmid DNA purification, PCR reactions, and other routine laboratory procedures using established protocols.
• Collect Drosophila samples and prepare and process fly tissue for data collection and microscopy imaging.
• Document experimental procedures and results accurately.
• Support senior lab members with day-to-day research activities and complete assigned tasks on schedule.
• Collaborate with laboratory members in a team-based research environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, life sciences, or an equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
• Prior hands-on laboratory experience through undergraduate research, internships, or employment.
• Willingness to learn new techniques and receive training.
• Strong organizational skills, careful adherence to instructions, attention to detail, communication skills, and problem-solving ability.
• Ability to work onsite at the Janelia Research Campus in Ashburn, Virginia.
