Research Technician I - Kronauer Lab

Hiring pay range: $19.15–$23.94 per hour

What you will do

• Maintain ant colonies through watering, feeding, cleaning, health monitoring, and routine husbandry.
• Assist with producing, preparing, storing, and maintaining research ant colonies.
• Support research projects involving behavioral tracking, genome engineering, and related investigations.
• Receive, unpack, organize, and communicate information about laboratory deliveries.
• Perform routine laboratory operations, including dishwashing, bottle preparation, supply restocking, and inventory maintenance.
• Attend lab meetings and scientific discussions while progressively expanding research involvement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Comfort working with insects and performing animal husbandry tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a collaborative team.
• Ability to move around the workspace and handle materials weighing several pounds; work may involve laboratory hazards and hazardous materials.

Nice to have

• 0–2 years of experience in laboratory operations, animal care, husbandry, research support, or related environments.
• Previous experience with insects, animals, husbandry, laboratory operations, or research.
• Background in biology, neuroscience, ecology, entomology, or another science-related field.
