Field Producer (NewsNation DC)

Location: Washington, DC bureau; onsite role with domestic and international travel as needed

Salary: $80,000–$85,000 per year, based on experience

What you will do

• Coordinate daily coverage of the federal government, including the White House and both houses of Congress, as well as regional and other general news.
• Research, report, and write accurate and timely stories from briefings, press conferences, events, and statements.
• Develop story and guest ideas and cultivate sources for breaking and up-to-the-minute developments.
• Organize field shoots, interviews, and live shots, managing planning and logistics for field teams.
• Build live hits, segments, and packages with broadcast scripts for broadcast and digital audiences.
• Coordinate communication between field teams, show teams, and the assignment desk while supporting editorial planning and personnel scheduling.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
• At least five years of broadcast or digital production experience.
• Experience in reporting, research, and writing, including explaining complex topics through storytelling.
• Understanding of social media and social newsgathering.
• Ability to operate newsroom computer systems and collaborate effectively with network personnel.
• Willingness to work onsite in Washington, DC, travel as needed, and work overtime, nights, holidays, and weekends, often with short notice.
