TL;DR
Histology Lab Trainer (Histopathology): Developing and delivering onboarding, competency, and refresher training for staff in a high-volume, CLIA/CAP-certified histopathology laboratory with an accent on histology procedures, regulatory compliance, and audit-ready documentation. Focus on conducting hands-on training, assessing competency, standardizing materials across shifts, and supporting new assays, equipment, and workflow improvements.

Location: Phoenix, Arizona, United States. Onsite role with shifts of Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. or 10:00 a.m.–6:30 p.m.

hirify.global is partnering with a scientific organization on a histology training role supporting a high-volume, CLIA/CAP-certified histopathology laboratory.

What you will do

  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver onboarding and ongoing training programs for histology laboratory staff.
  • Conduct hands-on training in microtomy, staining, tissue processing, embedding, and equipment operation.
  • Perform and document competency assessments, remediation, and refresher training.
  • Create and maintain training materials, job aids, reference guides, SOP updates, and competency records.
  • Support new assays, workflows, equipment, process improvements, CAP inspections, and regulatory audits through targeted training and documentation.
  • Collaborate with Histology leadership, Quality, Supervisors, and Laboratory Operations while coaching staff and improving training consistency.

Requirements

  • Completion of a NAACLS-accredited Histotechnician or Histotechnologist program.
  • At least 5 years of histology laboratory experience in a clinical or high-volume environment.
  • Working knowledge of microtomy, H&E staining, tissue processing, embedding, and histology equipment.
  • Experience training, mentoring, or onboarding laboratory staff, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship; ability to work standing for extended periods, perform repetitive laboratory tasks, lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, and follow PPE and laboratory safety requirements.

Nice to have

  • HT(ASCP) or HLT(ASCP) certification.
  • Experience in a CLIA/CAP-certified histopathology laboratory.
  • Familiarity with laboratory information systems and training or learning management systems.
  • Experience supporting audits, inspections, or regulatory readiness.
  • Prior experience in a trainer, lead, or senior histology role.
