Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Platform) (Python/AWS)

Location: Remote across the United States; an in-person option is available at the New York City headquarters.

Compensation: $180,000–$220,000 in on-target earnings annually, plus Series C-level equity.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and scale core platform infrastructure for reliability, performance, and security.
• Build developer tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and workflows that improve productivity and reduce friction.
• Implement security-by-design controls and operationalize compliance requirements.
• Define platform best practices, architectural standards, and technical direction across teams.
• Partner with engineering and product leaders to balance delivery speed, cost, resilience, and reliability.
• Mentor engineers and contribute to cross-functional platform initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent technical experience.
• 8+ years of infrastructure and platform engineering experience with cloud-native systems.
• Strong Python and AWS expertise, with experience using Django and cloud services.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, relational databases, infrastructure as code, observability, monitoring, and incident response.
• Hands-on experience with containerization and orchestration, such as Docker, Kubernetes, or ECS.
• Knowledge of compliance frameworks and experience leading security initiatives, mentoring engineers, and shaping technical direction.

Nice to have

• Experience with transportation systems such as TMS or ELD, or with scientific and analytics applications.
• Familiarity with dbt and DuckDB.
• Experience improving monorepo workflows with tools such as Bazel, Buck, or Pants.
