Embedded Software & Controls Lead

Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States; daytime Monday–Friday schedule with some travel and on-site customer work.

Salary: $104,100–$173,900 per year.

What you will do

• Lead a small team responsible for embedded controls and software development, system integration, characterization, and testing.
• Manage performance, development, goal setting, recruitment support, and technical mentoring for 2–7 direct reports.
• Define controls architecture, platforms, functionality, software standards, and program compliance requirements.
• Build and validate multi-domain models of mechanical, hydraulic, and electronic systems using simulation results and test data.
• Develop and test control algorithms, including classical and modern control techniques.
• Support electronic component selection, controller integration, customer technical reviews, and troubleshooting of electrical and system issues.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in automotive, mechanical, electrical engineering, computer science, computer engineering, or mechatronic systems.
• At least 6 years of engineering experience.
• Experience with embedded C/C++ on microcontrollers, Linux, or RTOS-based platforms.
• Experience with MATLAB, Simulink, Stateflow, and system modeling or simulation tools.
• Knowledge of control systems, vehicle or system troubleshooting, networking protocols, automotive protocols, and actuator controls.
• Must meet the requirements for obtaining a US Government clearance; certain positions may require U.S. Person status under ITAR or EAR.

Nice to have

• Experience with weapon systems, combat vehicle engineering, fire control systems, or turrets and ammunition handling systems.
• Knowledge of MIL software, electronics, communications, cybersecurity, and functional safety standards.
• Experience delivering defense software CDRLs and working with vehicle-level simulation, data acquisition, or model-based development tools.
