Controls System Senior Engineer (Automation)

Location: Peoria, Illinois, United States; onsite five days per week. Domestic relocation is available for qualified candidates. The role includes 5–10% domestic and international travel.

Salary: $112,710–$169,060 per year.

What you will do

• Develop, integrate, and validate machine control systems for Medium Wheel Loaders across the product development lifecycle.
• Support new technology introduction and product lifecycle projects involving operator assist, coaching, payload systems, connectivity, and automation.
• Define and deliver control systems and user interface features for new product introductions and production support.
• Perform hands-on machine testing, controls tuning, troubleshooting, calibration, validation, and data analysis.
• Collaborate with software, electronics, hydraulics, drivetrain, sensing, and machine integration teams.
• Lead small projects and mentor junior engineers while applying adaptive controls, machine learning, perception, autonomy, and electrification technologies.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or computer science; robotics, electrical, computer, mechanical, or mechatronics engineering is preferred.
• Knowledge of embedded systems and control systems used in construction, mining, agricultural, automotive, or similar equipment.
• Experience with requirements analysis, technical troubleshooting, analytical problem solving, and communicating complex technical concepts.
• Experience with machine testing, controls calibration, system validation, and data analysis.
• Experience with Matlab, Simulink, or similar model-based development tools, plus embedded programming in C or C++ and analytical programming in Python.

Nice to have

• Experience developing machine, vehicle, automation, robotics, agricultural, construction, mining, or automotive control systems.
• Experience integrating complex systems involving electronics, software, hydraulics, powertrain, sensing, or machine controls.
• Test engineering experience in automotive or construction equipment.
