Study Support Technician I – Rodent Breeding & Husbandry

Hiring pay range: $20.00–$22.47 per hour

What you will do

• Provide husbandry and animal care for mice, rats, zebrafish, and other laboratory species, including feeding, watering, cage cleaning, and daily observations.
• Receive, examine, and properly house incoming animal shipments.
• Clean and sanitize animal holding and procedure rooms and provide species-appropriate environmental enrichment.
• Use databases for animal housing, study support, recordkeeping, and completion tracking.
• Receive, stock, and maintain supply inventories.
• Provide minor technical support, including animal restraint, blood collection, injections, and clinical treatments as directed.

Requirements

• Six months of experience working with vertebrate animal species.
• Ability to learn tasks quickly and manage multiple requests and assignments.
• Excellent Microsoft Office and/or Google Docs skills.
• Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and communication skills for collaboration with scientists, technical staff, administrators, and management.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a rapidly changing environment.
• Ability to perform the physical duties of the role, including extended standing or sitting, workspace mobility, and moving materials weighing several pounds.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in life science or a related field.
• Experience in an academic, industry, or nonprofit basic or applied science research setting.
