Postdoctoral Scientist (Biophysics)

Hiring pay range: $70,000–$80,500 annually

What you will do

• Lead independent research projects on chromatin, RNA structure, protein homeostasis, and neurodegenerative disease mechanisms.
• Design and execute experiments using molecular biology techniques, including PCR, cloning, and genotyping.
• Perform in vivo high-resolution microscopy to analyze protein and RNA localization.
• Apply structural biology methods, including NMR spectroscopy, to study protein–RNA interactions.
• Supervise undergraduate researchers and contribute to an open, collaborative laboratory environment.
• Document, analyze, and present findings in internal meetings and scientific publications.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Molecular Biosciences, Genetics, Chemistry, Biophysics, or a closely related field.
• Hands-on experience in biochemistry, biophysics, or cell biological research.
• Proficiency in molecular biology techniques such as cloning and PCR.
• Research experience with non-canonical RNA structures such as G4-quadruplexes, chromatin organization, or neurodegenerative disease models.
• Demonstrated scientific independence and the ability to manage and lead research projects autonomously.
• Ability to work in person at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
