Senior Accountant (Life Insurance)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota; at least four days per week in the office, with the option to work from home one day per week.

Salary: $71,300–$98,100 per year, plus potential variable compensation and benefits.

What you will do

• Develop and report accounting processes for life insurance and annuity transactions in accordance with GAAP, company policies, and internal controls.
• Prepare journal entries, account analyses, and investigations of unusual balances or fluctuations.
• Own assigned balance sheet accounts, research reconciling items, and resolve account variances.
• Review monthly reconciliations across insurance and annuity administration platforms.
• Collaborate with Finance and Client Service personnel to troubleshoot and resolve reconciliation issues.
• Support business projects, provide metrics, and drive automation, standardization, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience, including general ledger accounting, balance sheet reconciliations, account analysis, and financial reporting support.
• Ability to evaluate operational and financial problems, perform root-cause analysis, and implement timely corrective actions.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to analyze large data sets.
• Advanced Excel skills, including formulas and pivot tables, with proficiency in current desktop tools.
• Valid U.S. work authorization without current or future visa sponsorship requirements is mandatory.

Nice to have

• Experience with Access, Power BI, Alteryx, SQL, or similar data analysis and reporting tools.
• Experience with bank reconciliation processes.
• Knowledge of annuity and life insurance products.
• Experience applying innovative approaches to structured and unstructured data analysis.
