Sr. Software Engineer (Azure)

Location: Hybrid in Houston, Texas, United States

Salary: $117,900–$131,000 per year, depending on experience, plus bonus and benefits.

What you will do

• Design, build, review, and maintain enterprise-grade REST APIs and Azure API Management layers.
• Expose enterprise SQL data and integrate backend services with Azure SQL Database, Databricks, Azure OpenAI, custom ML models, and RAG pipelines.
• Develop scalable, secure, reusable, and high-performance APIs for internal applications, analytics platforms, and AI-powered solutions.
• Optimize SQL and stored procedures and support structured and unstructured data consumption.
• Implement security, data protection, logging, tracing, high availability, disaster recovery, governance, CI/CD, and automated testing practices.
• Lead small to medium engineering teams, oversee less experienced engineers, and collaborate with business, engineering, data, and AI teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field with at least 5 years of relevant experience, or 9 years of relevant experience without a degree.
• Experience leading teams in software solution delivery and working under tight deadlines.
• Strong knowledge of software development languages including Python, C#, JavaScript, Node, .NET, HTML, or Angular.
• Strong knowledge of SQL or NoSQL databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Cosmos DB, MySQL, Redis, or Splunk.
• Knowledge of Windows or cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud, plus advanced programming concepts, data structures, and algorithms.
• Strong communication, presentation, analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and self-motivation skills.

Nice to have

• Expertise developing cloud-native applications on Microsoft Azure with .NET/C# and Node backend frameworks.
• Experience with microservices architecture, enterprise APIs, Azure APIM, and relational databases.
• Experience with Azure OpenAI, GenAI solutions, AI/ML model integration, or AI platforms.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Azure Key Vault, Application Insights, and regulated or enterprise environments.
