Controls Engineer - Mid Level (Automotive)

Location: New Hudson, Michigan, United States; some travel and on-site customer work required.

Salary: $79,300–$126,900 per year.

What you will do

• Define controls architectures, platforms, and functionality for vehicle systems.
• Create and test control algorithms in MATLAB, Simulink, and Stateflow.
• Develop and validate system models using bench, vehicle, and test-data correlation.
• Integrate and commission prototype systems in development vehicles.
• Specify electronic components, controller hardware, wiring, connectors, and mechanical system requirements.
• Support customers, project planning, program management, product feedback, and technical training.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in automotive, mechanical, electrical, computer, or mechatronic engineering, or computer science.
• 3+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience with technical writing, communication, teamwork, organization, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work a Monday–Friday daytime schedule, with occasional night or weekend work during project surges.
• Some travel and on-site customer work are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with embedded systems tools such as MotoTron/MotoHawk, Raptor, OpenECU, or dSPACE MABX.
• Experience with CAN tools, vehicle-level simulation, and data acquisition hardware and software.
• Knowledge of automotive, robotics, defense, or motorsports industries.
• Experience with CAN, Ethernet, LIN, wireless 802.11, or DSRC communication protocols.
• Experience with electric and hybrid vehicle architecture, autonomous or by-wire systems, actuator controls, and embedded C.
