What you will do

  • Support Radiation Protection leads, supervisors, and management with technical, administrative, and functional activities.
  • Plan radiological work, monitor radiological work areas, generate radiological work permits, and monitor radiological workers.
  • Perform quantitative measurements and document results for radioactive material shipments and the release of excess material and waste.
  • Support field ES&H activities, including atmospheric monitoring, safety evaluations, self-assessments, and chemical hygiene controls.
  • Recommend corrective measures to reduce excessive contamination levels and support procedural modifications and program audits.
  • Mentor less experienced technicians and participate in Safety Work Groups while maintaining safe work practices.

Requirements

  • US citizenship is required.
  • Current DOE L or Q clearance is required, or the ability to reinstate a recently inactive clearance.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three years of operational health physics experience, including one year in the DOE/NNSA complex or a gaseous diffusion enrichment facility.
  • Current qualification as a Radiological Control Technician and successful completion of the RCT Fundamentals Academic Challenge Exam.
  • Strong attention to detail, aptitude in math and science, ability to lift 50 pounds, and ability to wear respiratory protection.
