TL;DR
Waste Management Compliance Specialist (Environmental Compliance): Supporting RCRA compliance, waste management practices, regulator-ready reporting, and environmental, safety, and quality assurance activities in a high-stakes DOE Hanford nuclear cleanup environment with an accent on regulatory interpretation, compliance oversight, and data QA/QC. Focus on compiling compliance packages, coordinating with regulators, monitoring waste management operations, and protecting workers through environmental and occupational safety controls.

Location: Predominantly on-site at the Hanford Field Office and Hanford Site, 2440 Stevens Center Place, Richland, Washington 99354, United States; some remote support may be approved by the Contracting Officer. Fieldwork and coordinated travel may be required.

Compensation: Competitive compensation; specific salary range not stated. Referral bonuses of up to $5,000 are available under the referral program and are not part of the salary.

What you will do

  • Support RCRA compliance and monitor waste management practices for DOE Environmental Management programs.
  • Prepare reports and compile regulator-ready compliance packages.
  • Coordinate with regulators and provide environmental compliance oversight.
  • Support Environment, Safety and Health and Quality Assurance activities, including quality surveillance, quality control, and compliance.
  • Contribute to program and project management support for Hanford Field Office General Support Services.
  • Perform fieldwork and travel when coordinated and approved in accordance with Federal Travel Regulations.

Requirements

  • 5–10+ years of waste or environmental compliance experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.
  • HAZWOPER qualification.
  • Experience with regulatory interpretation and data QA/QC.
  • Strong attention to detail, risk awareness, and communication skills.
  • Facility Clearance is required; DOE clearance may be required depending on the assigned task.

Nice to have

  • Experience supporting the U.S. Department of Energy or other Environmental Management Sector clients.
  • Experience with nuclear safety, radiation protection, industrial hygiene, emergency management, or construction safety.
