Project Manager (Mid - Principal) | NEW GENERATION (Construction Utility Projects)

Location: Tulsa and other locations within the AEP service territory in Oklahoma, or Columbus, Ohio. Work is performed at homes, offices, power plants, nuclear facilities, and construction sites, with travel typically up to 25%.

Base salary: $88,000–$151,000 per year.

What you will do

• Plan, organize, coordinate, execute, monitor, control, and close base, intermediate, and complex utility construction projects.
• Develop project plans, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, procurement plans, and project controls.
• Lead project meetings and communicate status, risks, costs, schedules, and decisions to internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage relationships with project teams, operating companies, customers, contractors, vendors, suppliers, and partners.
• Manage or support contracts, requests for proposals, competitive bids, vendor selection, negotiations, and vendor performance.
• Support safety, quality, continuous improvement, project closeout, and progressive development into a lead project manager role.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, computer science, or a related field with 3 years of qualified experience; alternatively, an associate degree with 5 years or a high school diploma/GED with 7 years of qualified experience.
• Qualified experience may include outage management, business or financial administration, major construction field work, project estimating, project controls, project engineering, or comparable production-environment experience.
• Knowledge of construction safety, negotiations, scope management, cost estimating, construction contracting, project controls, reporting, and quality control.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Ability to perform light physical duties, including construction site walkdowns on unstable surfaces and ladder climbing, and work around hazardous or potentially radioactive conditions at nuclear sites within NRC limits.
• Ability to lead teams, manage stakeholders, assess risks, control costs and schedules, and communicate clearly and professionally.

Nice to have

• Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, or IT systems.
• PMP certification.
• Three years of experience as a Project Manager Associate or demonstrated equivalent competencies.
