Manager, NCS Volunteer Program & Operations

Location: Onsite at the Downtown Los Angeles-based office, Los Angeles, California, United States. The majority of work is office-based, with variable hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak event periods. LA28 does not provide relocation assistance.

Annual base salary: $88,000–$115,000.

LA28 Olympic & Paralympic Games is delivering the Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games and services for participating national committees.

What you will do

• Architect and deliver the NCS Volunteer Program, including NOC/NPC Assistants, Own Assistants, and Games-time Volunteers for an estimated 800+ volunteers.
• Lead volunteer recruitment, onboarding, training, forecasting, allocation, scheduling, and retention in collaboration with People Management and Olympic and Paralympic stakeholders.
• Build program tools, manuals, tracking systems, readiness testing, and operational reporting for both Games.
• Lead daily operations of the NOC/NPC Assistants Program office, including check-in/check-out, credential verification, briefings, dispatch, and shift coverage.
• Resolve scheduling conflicts, performance issues, and operational escalations while monitoring transport, meals, rest areas, attendance, and shift fulfillment.
• Build and lead the volunteer support team, establishing measurable objectives and a culture of inclusion, transparency, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience in volunteer management, workforce operations, large-scale event management, or international relations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, International Relations, Business Administration, Human Resources, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong organizational skills with experience managing scheduling matrices, shift rosters, and workforce management systems.
• Experience designing and delivering onboarding programs and specialized training for large, diverse groups.
• Commitment to cultural sensitivity, disability awareness, and an inclusive environment for globally diverse delegations and workforces.
• Fluent written and spoken English and availability to work onsite in Los Angeles are required.

Nice to have

• Proficiency or fluency in French or Spanish.
• Experience with Smartsheet and workforce management tools.
• Previous Olympic, Paralympic, Games, or major-event experience.
• Familiarity with the Olympic and Paralympic Movement.
• Public speaking experience.
