Electric Distribution Engineer, Associate

What you will do

• Perform distributed generation interconnection studies for solar, battery, and electric vehicle projects connecting to the distribution grid.
• Monitor substation and circuit capabilities, track loads, analyze historical demand, and model future growth.
• Prepare short- and long-term capacity, reliability, voltage, and power-factor plans, including planning reviews and project alternatives.
• Develop switching plans, equipment and protective-device settings, circuit protection reviews, and distribution automation settings.
• Support reliability investigations, outage prevention, customer voltage and EMF complaints, emergency restoration, and cross-functional construction activities.
• Prepare economic and other engineering analyses, maintain equipment records, and provide on-call supervisory support as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Work onsite in West Sacramento, California.
• Knowledge of electrical distribution systems, power systems, protection coordination, and AC/DC schematics.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• The position is entry-level, represented by Engineers and Scientists of California, and subject to collective bargaining.

Nice to have

• Professional engineering registration.
• CYME experience and generation interconnection study experience.
• Electrical engineering power emphasis, Python scripting, PSCAD, or microgrid experience.
