TL;DR
Certified Weld Inspector - 1st Shift (Welding/Manufacturing): Setting up weld equipment, evaluating qualification test pieces, and supporting welding training and process problem-solving with an accent on blueprint interpretation, documented welding procedures, and code-defined welder qualifications. Focus on conducting pre-employment weld evaluations, maintaining weld procedures, and training employees in MIG, TIG, aluminum, and steel welding techniques.

Location: Bradenton, Florida, United States; onsite, 1st shift

Pierce Manufacturing, an Oshkosh company, designs and builds customized fire and emergency vehicles, including pumpers, aerials, tankers, and rescue units.

What you will do

  • Set up weld equipment and maintain the weld training area for training and testing.
  • Conduct pre-employment weld evaluation tests with Human Resources and supervision.
  • Train and guide new welding employees on documented procedures and proper techniques.
  • Evaluate weld test pieces objectively and document training and testing results.
  • Support manufacturing with technical problem-solving related to weld equipment and processes.
  • Test and maintain weld procedures and support departmental goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Technical degree or certificate in industrial welding, or previous welding experience.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Bench, MIG, and/or TIG welding experience with aluminum and steel.
  • Ability to pass all Pierce Manufacturing internal welder qualification tests.
  • Applicants may need to be U.S. Persons for positions involving controlled goods and technologies under ITAR or EAR regulations.

Nice to have

  • Post-secondary training in welding or a related field from a trade or technical college.
  • AWS-CWI certification from the American Welding Society, or the ability to obtain it.
  • Previous experience as a Pierce employee or temporary contractor.
