Welding Program Supervisor

Location: Houston, TX (TAS-Cullen HQ); onsite work in a facility and shop environment

What you will do

• Supervise the facility welding program, including WPS, PQR, WPQ, weld maps, stencil controls, and continuity logs.
• Ensure welding activities comply with AWS, ASME, customer specifications, and other applicable standards.
• Oversee welder testing, certification, training, requalification schedules, and qualification records.
• Coordinate welding audits, maintain calibration logs, and support internal and external ISO 3834 audits.
• Act as the subject matter expert for welding processes, equipment, consumables, and inspection techniques while collaborating with inspectors.
• Resolve process, equipment, material, and nonconformance issues and drive improvements in quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Welding Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• At least 5 years of experience in welding operations and welding standards, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisor role.
• Strong knowledge of GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, MIG, TIG, welding equipment, materials, and applicable codes.
• Familiarity with AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and related welding standards; proficiency in reading blueprints, weld symbols, and technical specifications.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, leadership, mentoring, and time-management skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint, and Google Docs; ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Nice to have

• CWI certification.
• ASNT SNT TC-1A NDE Level II qualification in visual and magnetic particle interpretation.
• OSHA safety certification.
• Experience with digital weld tracking or welding program management software.
• Hands-on welding experience.
