Research Technician – Scanziani Lab

Location: University of California, San Francisco, San Francisco, California, United States. Primary work address: 1550 4th Street, Suite 190, San Francisco, CA 94158-0724. Onsite laboratory work with live mice is required.

Salary: $19.15–$23.94 per hour.

What you will do

• Monitor every mouse colony cage for health, new litters, and other issues.
• Address colony health concerns and establish breeding pairs to meet laboratory research needs.
• Maintain compliance with animal care protocols and regulatory standards, including assisting with protocol amendments and renewals.
• Perform PCR reactions and genotyping-related laboratory work.
• Prepare vibratome and cryostat slides and perform antibody staining.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology or a closely related discipline.
• Hands-on academic laboratory experience and understanding of molecular biology techniques such as PCR and genotyping.
• Comfort handling and working with live mice regularly.
• Strong written and verbal communication, organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, learn new techniques, and use PC or Mac systems with Microsoft Office.

Nice to have

• Previous experience handling mice.
• Prior experience with immunofluorescent staining.
