TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer III (Aerospace): Leading the design, analysis, testing, and integration of advanced mechanical systems for aerospace and ISR platforms with an accent on aircraft and airframe expertise, CAD/CAE, and technical leadership. Focus on optimizing complex designs through simulation, overseeing test plans, coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities, and guiding junior engineers.

Location: Dayton, Ohio, United States; office or hybrid environment, with occasional travel.

What you will do

  • Lead the design and development of advanced mechanical systems and components.
  • Perform complex engineering analyses and simulations to validate and optimize designs.
  • Develop and oversee detailed test plans and procedures.
  • Review and approve technical documentation and reports.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary integration activities and support multiple complex projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance as a site lead.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field; a higher-level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in mechanical engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven site lead experience, including coordination of engineering activities and support for on-site operations.
  • Hands-on aircraft or airframe experience and advanced mechanical design knowledge.
  • Proficiency with CAD software and experience with Computer-Aided Engineering tools.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, along with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Security Clearance.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in a related engineering field.
  • Experience applying and interpreting GD&T according to ASME Y14.5.
  • Aerospace and Defense industry background.
  • Experience with parametric design, model-based definition, material selection, and manufacturing processes.
