Senior Staff Mechanical Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: On-site in Westminster, Colorado, United States. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations.

Salary: $158,000–$189,000 per year

What you will do

• Lead a mechanical engineering team responsible for spacecraft, subsystems, and mechanical interfaces throughout development.
• Deliver mechanical designs from requirements definition and architecture trades through analysis, manufacturing, assembly, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
• Develop spacecraft structures, mechanisms, electronics packaging, thermal architectures, deployable structures, and actuated systems.
• Support satellite AI&T and environmental test campaigns, including vibration, shock, and TVAC testing.
• Collaborate with GNC, EPS, CDH, Payload, RF, Systems, and AI&T teams.
• Present engineering design reviews to customers and executives and contribute to proposal writing.

Requirements

• BS or MS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
• 12 years of experience designing communications satellite structures and mechanisms across the full development lifecycle.
• At least 5 years of experience leading technical teams and ownership of complete mechanical development cycles at the space-vehicle level.
• Experience with structural and thermal analysis, FEA/CAD tools such as SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, and Nastran, and architectural trade studies.
• Expertise in CNC manufacturing, GD&T, mechanical drawings, composite sandwich panels, spacecraft structures, and design for manufacturability, assembly, testing, and reliability.
• Experience with flight missions, spacecraft AI&T, environmental testing, and failure recovery for mechanisms and structures.

Nice to have

• Experience with LEO, GEO, and beyond, and with spacecraft ranging from CubeSats and SmallSats to large GEO satellites.
• Python or other scripting capability.
• Experience with multiple spacecraft structural and mechanical architectures.
