TL;DR
Mechanical Engineer II (Aerospace): Designing and developing mechanical systems for satellite, spacecraft, UAV, and launch-vehicle communication products with an accent on electronics packaging, thermal management, CAD, and environmental qualification. Focus on performing FEA and thermal, shock, vibration, and EMI/EMC analyses, progressing designs from concept through manufacturing and testing, and supporting in-orbit products.

Location: Austin, Texas, United States; on-site. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, conditional residents, asylees, refugees, or eligible to obtain the required U.S. Department of State authorizations under space technology export regulations.

What you will do

  • Design mechanical systems for aerospace communication products from concept through detailed design, manufacturing, testing, qualification, and in-orbit support.
  • Develop electronics packaging, spacecraft mechanical interfaces, thermal management solutions, and structural components.
  • Perform mechanical simulations and analyses covering thermal behavior, shock, vibration, stress, and finite element analysis.
  • Apply GD&T, drafting standards, DFM/DFMA, precision machining, and CNC manufacturing principles to optimize designs.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers and manufacturing teams on electronics assemblies and aerospace production processes.
  • Present engineering design review materials to customers and leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science with 2–5 years of industry experience in design and analysis, or Master of Science with 0–3 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong mechanical engineering, analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or AutoCAD.
  • Experience with engineering analysis tools such as ANSYS, MATLAB, or similar.
  • Knowledge of GD&T, drafting standards, engineering documentation, DFM/DFMA, and CNC manufacturing.
  • Eligibility to work under United States Government space technology export regulations is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with electronics assemblies and close collaboration with electrical engineers.
  • Aerospace design, development, qualification, and manufacturing experience.
  • Experience with electronics packaging, thermal and vibration analysis, stress dynamics, or spacecraft structures and mechanisms.
  • Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
