Gas Controller Associate (Gas Pipelines)

Location: Houston, Texas; onsite. Work is performed on 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, with possible overtime, extended shifts, and on-call call-ins.

What you will do

• Monitor real-time pipeline conditions across multiple SCADA screens and respond to alarms within required time limits.
• Respond safely to pressure drops, equipment failures, possible leaks, and other abnormal operating conditions.
• Start and stop compressors, operate valves, isolate pipeline sections, and manage gas flow and system balance.
• Move gas safely and reliably to meet customer and market demand.
• Communicate with field technicians, controllers, schedulers, third parties, and customers.
• Complete shift handovers, participate in drills and training, and follow PHMSA compliance and fatigue risk management requirements.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to learn technical systems and remain calm and effective during emergencies.
• Ability to work 24/7 rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and extended shifts when required.
• Adequate visual acuity, color discrimination, hearing, attention, judgment, and psychomotor performance for sustained control-room operations.
• Ability to follow through on responsibilities and work effectively with others.

Nice to have

• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
