Project Engineer (Industrial Gases)

Location: Montreal, Quebec, Canada; office-based at 1250 René-Lévesque Boulevard West. Travel to the United States and Canada is required occasionally or frequently, typically 10–15% of working time and up to 50% sporadically depending on projects.

What you will do

• Support production teams and zone engineers during project definition and estimate development.
• Prepare technical solutions, scopes, budgets, schedules, risk registers, and other key project deliverables.
• Apply mechanical, piping, and process engineering expertise while acting as an overall design authority.
• Coordinate internal and external subject-matter experts, operations teams, suppliers, contractors, and procurement activities.
• Manage project execution, technical performance, capital expenditure, schedule, risks, and mitigation plans.
• Ensure compliance with engineering standards, local codes, safety requirements, and the Industrial Management System throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably mechanical or chemical engineering.
• 5–7 years of engineering experience, preferably in mechanical engineering and piping, plus approximately 3 years of project management experience.
• Knowledge of mechanical, piping, and process engineering, including ASME, CSA, NFPA, and CGA standards and pressure-vessel legislation.
• Proficiency with engineering and technical documents, including P&IDs, electrical one-line diagrams, and site-layout drawings.
• General knowledge of civil, structural, process control, electrical, and instrumentation engineering, as well as project management methodologies.
• Strong leadership, planning, communication, adaptability, safety focus, decisiveness, and resourcefulness.

Nice to have

• Experience in industrial gases and industrial projects, particularly air separation, large on-site facilities, or cryogenics.
• Active membership in a Canadian engineering regulatory body.
