vMix Host & Specialist (vMix)

Location: Portsmouth, Virginia, United States; physical presence required. No telecommuting. The market includes Portsmouth, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach.

Annual salary: $60,000–$70,000, commensurate with experience.

What you will do

• Host, produce, switch, edit, and upload daily and special-project video content using vMix.
• Develop live hosted video for CTV distribution, including unedited and breaking-news formats.
• Set up interviews, gather factual information, b-roll, and visual elements, and prepare rundowns or scripts.
• Develop vMix scene collections and collaborate with graphics teams on production branding.
• Track show metrics to identify valuable formats and opportunities for new programming.
• Troubleshoot live-streaming and behind-the-scenes production challenges while building relationships across the newsroom.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of video production experience with extensive on-camera experience.
• 2–3 years of experience with vMix or similar streaming software.
• Proven technical problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple live and production tasks.
• Understanding of journalism ethics, including copyright and attribution.
• Basic knowledge of camera settings, studio lighting, and audio processing; willingness to learn livestream IT and engineering.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with strong attention to detail.
