Area Manager Plant Operations (Recycling)

Location: Walnut Creek, California, USA; domestic travel up to 70% of the time.

Pay range: $165,700–$227,800 annually. Annual incentive plan target: 20%.

What you will do

• Manage field recycling activities and align operations with technology, industry trends, customer needs, talent, capital resources, and waste stream value.
• Develop and implement best practices, operational standards, design specifications, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct efficiency, safety, and operational audits at recycling facilities and review results with area and division management.
• Manage rebate structures, productivity benchmarks, financial performance tools, standards, and metrics.
• Identify equipment and capital spending needs, evaluate recovery systems with Procurement, and recommend purchases.
• Collaborate with Recycle Center management and train operational employees on safety, compliance, tracking systems, and efficiency.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of related waste industry experience focused on recycling systems and design, processing and manufacturing systems, or recycling materials marketing.
• Knowledge of recycling operations management.
• Experience managing a budget, including P&L responsibility.
• Experience with start-up operations, execution, change management, or improving efficiencies in newly implemented operations, processes, or standards.
• Demonstrated success developing a process-oriented culture focused on best practices and continuous improvement.
• High school diploma or G.E.D.
