Precision Coating Specialist

What you will do

• Develop coating processes for adhesive, film, tape, and functional material products.
• Evaluate material properties, coating liquids, substrates, drying conditions, film thickness, and other process parameters.
• Conduct laboratory and pilot-scale coating trials, optimize processes, and support scale-up toward manufacturing implementation.
• Analyze experimental and evaluation data to improve coating quality, thickness uniformity, appearance, drying performance, yield, and process stability.
• Perform root cause analysis, propose and verify improvements, and support technical issue resolution.
• Support specification review, start-up evaluation, and process condition establishment for new coating and related equipment.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in materials science, materials engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
• Fundamental knowledge of organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, fluid mechanics, transport phenomena, or process engineering.
• Hands-on experience in coating, drying, lamination, film processing, or related process development.
• Knowledge of at least one coating method, such as slot die, knife, gravure, roll, curtain, or spray coating.
• Experience with prototyping, evaluation, process condition development, scale-up, data analysis, technical reporting, or new equipment introduction.
• Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with adhesives, resins, solvent-based or water-based materials, dispersions, films, or functional materials.
• Experience supporting products in automotive, industrial, electronics, or consumer-related applications.
• Experience communicating technical topics with global teams, manufacturing groups, business teams, or customers.
